This is the whole setup, start to finish. If you are installing DrezSync for the first time and want to know what the path looks like before you begin, read this page. Each step below links to the detailed guide for that step.
Set aside about fifteen minutes. Connecting Google is the only slow part, it takes around ten minutes, and you only ever do it once.
Before you start
- Gravity Forms, installed, active, and licensed. DrezSync is an add-on for it and does not work on its own.
- A Google account with the calendar you want to take bookings on. A normal Google account is fine, you do not need Workspace.
- PHP 7.4 or newer on your site.
More detail on requirements: What DrezSync Is and What You Need.
Step 1: Install DrezSync
Install and activate DrezSync alongside Gravity Forms, the same way you would any plugin. You can download it from the DrezSync page. A new DrezSync item appears in your WordPress admin menu once it is active.
Step 2: Connect your Google Calendar
This is the one substantial step, and you only do it once. You create a Google project, turn on the Calendar API, and authorise your own account so DrezSync can read and write your calendar.
Follow it here, keeping the guide in one tab and Google in another: How to connect Google Calendar to DrezSync.
When you are done, the DrezSync settings screen says Connected. If it does not, The Plugin Says Not Connected covers what went wrong.
Would rather not do this part yourself? We offer a done-for-you setup for a flat $149, where we connect it for you and the deliverable is simply the plugin showing Connected.
Step 3: Match your timezone
Do this before you take a single booking. Your WordPress timezone and your Google Calendar timezone must be the same, and both should be set to a city rather than a fixed UTC offset, so daylight saving stays correct.
A mismatch here causes the most confusing problems you can have, such as the wrong times being blocked. Two minutes now saves an afternoon later: Matching Your Timezone.
Step 4: Add booking to a form
If you do not have a form yet, make one: Creating the Gravity Form DrezSync Attaches To. Name it something that reads well, because the form name becomes the title of your calendar events by default.
Then add the DrezSync Booking field to it and set your rules: your open days, your hours, your slot length, and the Google Calendar ID of the calendar you want bookings on. That single field handles the date and the times together, so you never type out time slots by hand.
Full walkthrough: Your First Booking Form.
Step 5: Test it
Use the Gravity Forms Preview and make a real booking:
- Pick a date. You should see only your open times for that day.
- Choose a time and submit.
- Check your Google Calendar. The booking should be sitting there as an event, with the details from the form in its description.
- Go back to the form and pick that same date again. The time you just booked should be gone.
If all four of those happen, you are set up correctly and you can put the form on a page.
If something does not work
Start with Start Here: Quick Checks Before Troubleshooting. Nearly every problem is one of three things: the Google connection, caching, or a timezone or calendar mismatch.
- No times appear at all: No Available Times Show on the Form.
- You changed something and nothing changed on the form: Changes Are Not Showing Up. This is the single most common one right after setup.
- It will not reach Connected: The Plugin Says Not Connected.
