Managing Cron Jobs in cPanel

A cron job is a task your server runs automatically on a schedule, like sending reports, clearing caches, or running a backup script. Once it is set, it just happens, quietly, without you lifting a finger. Here is how to create, edit, and manage them in cPanel.

Create a Cron Job

1. Log in to cPanel and open Cron Jobs in the Advanced section.
2. Under Add New Cron Job, pick how often it should run. The Common Settings menu has ready-made schedules like “once per hour” if you do not want to set the timing by hand.
3. In the Command field, enter the command or script to run.
4. Click Add New Cron Job.

Edit or Delete a Cron Job

1. Scroll to Current Cron Jobs.
2. Click Edit to change the schedule or command, or Delete to remove it.

Get Notified When One Runs

At the top of the Cron Jobs page is a Cron Email field. Enter an address there and cPanel emails you the output each time a job runs, which is handy for catching errors. Leave it blank if you do not want those messages.

Handle with care. A cron job that runs too often or with a bad command can bog down your server. If you are not sure of the schedule or the command, check with us before adding it.
