How to Create an Addon Domain in cPanel

Category: Domains & DNS  •  Est. reading time: 3 minutes

An addon domain lets you run a completely separate website, on its own domain name, from the same cPanel account. It is how you host more than one site in one place, each with its own address and its own files.

The Steps

1. Log in to cPanel and open Domains in the Domains section. (Newer cPanel uses Create A New Domain. Older versions have a dedicated Addon Domains tool.)

2. Enter the new domain name.

3. cPanel sets up a folder for the new site automatically. Adjust it only if you have a reason to.

4. Click Submit or Create., enter the fully qualified domain name in the Domain text box.

One requirement: the new domain has to point to this server for the addon to work, which usually means updating its nameservers or DNS first. See our guides on nameservers if you need to do that.
