A backup is only as good as your ability to restore it. When something goes wrong, this is how you put your files, database, or email back the way they were. You restore the same pieces you can back up, one at a time.
Restore Part of Your Account
- Log in to cPanel and open Backup in the Files section.
- Under the Restore area, choose what you are restoring: Home Directory, a MySQL database, or email forwarders and filters.
- Click Choose File, select the matching backup file you saved earlier, and upload it.
- cPanel restores that piece from your backup.
Restoring a Full Account
A complete, full-account restore is usually done at the server level rather than from inside cPanel, so if you need to roll an entire account back, that is a job for your host. If we host you, we can restore from a recent backup for you.
Match the pieces. Restore a database backup into a database, a home-directory backup into your files, and so on. And remember that restoring overwrites current data, so if you are unsure, take a fresh backup of the current state first, just in case.
