Posts are the heart of a WordPress blog. Here is how to write your first one, tidy up old ones, and clear out several at once when you are cleaning house.
Write and Publish Your First Post
- From your dashboard, go to Posts, then Add New Post.
- Give it a title, then write your content in the block below.
- Add a category and a featured image on the right if you like.
- When you are happy, click Publish. To finish later instead, click Save Draft.
Delete a Single Post
- Go to Posts, then All Posts.
- Hover over the post and click Trash. It moves to the Trash, not gone forever, so you have a grace period to restore it.
Delete Several Posts at Once
- In All Posts, tick the checkbox beside each post you want gone, or the header box to select the page.
- In the Bulk actions menu, choose Move to Trash and click Apply.
- To remove them permanently, open the Trash tab and empty it.
Deleting matters for SEO. If a published post had visitors or search rankings, removing it leaves a dead link. Consider redirecting its address to a related page rather than letting it 404.
