Understanding Renewals and Automatic Payments

Most of what we host for you, like your website hosting and your domains, renews on a regular schedule. That is the whole point: your site stays up and you never have to think about it. Still, it is nice to know how the billing works behind the curtain, so here it is.

How Renewal Billing Works

Before each renewal date rolls around, our system creates an invoice and emails it to you. No surprises. You always get a heads up on what is due and when.

Automatic Payments

If you have a card saved and set as your default payment method, the renewal invoice is charged to that card automatically on its due date. As long as your card is valid and not expired, you do not need to do anything.

  • Your card details are stored securely by our payment processor, not on our servers.
  • You will receive a receipt by email each time a payment is processed.

Keeping Payments From Failing

Nine times out of ten, a failed renewal comes down to one thing: an expired or replaced card. Here is how to stay ahead of it:

  1. Update your card before it expires. Our “How to Update Your Credit Card or Payment Method” guide shows you how.
  2. Set the new card as your default so renewals actually charge to it.

Note: If a payment does not go through, we will not leave you guessing. We will email you so you can log in and pay the invoice by hand. Just do not sit on it too long, since your website and services depend on it staying current.

Rather Pay It Yourself?

Not a fan of autopay? Totally fine. You are welcome to skip the card on file and pay each invoice yourself. Just keep an eye out for the invoice emails and pay before the due date under Billing, then My Invoices.
