How to Back Up a Database in cPanel

Your database holds the heart of your site: posts, pages, orders, settings. A backup is a copy you can restore if something goes wrong. There are two easy ways to make one in cPanel.

Option 1: The Backup Tool

1. Log in to cPanel and open Backup (in the Files section).
2. Under Download a MySQL Database Backup, click the database name.
3. cPanel saves a compressed copy to your computer.

Option 2: phpMyAdmin Export

1. Open phpMyAdmin in cPanel and select your database on the left.
2. Click the Export tab.
3. Leave the Quick method and SQL format selected, then click Export to download the file.

Make it a habit: take a backup before any big change, like a plugin update or a theme switch. It turns a potential disaster into a five-minute fix.
