Your database holds the heart of your site: posts, pages, orders, settings. A backup is a copy you can restore if something goes wrong. There are two easy ways to make one in cPanel.
Option 1: The Backup Tool
- Log in to cPanel and open Backup (in the Files section).
- Under Download a MySQL Database Backup, click the database name.
- cPanel saves a compressed copy to your computer.
Option 2: phpMyAdmin Export
- Open phpMyAdmin in cPanel and select your database on the left.
- Click the Export tab.
- Leave the Quick method and SQL format selected, then click Export to download the file.
Make it a habit: take a backup before any big change, like a plugin update or a theme switch. It turns a potential disaster into a five-minute fix.
